This is a great piece published in today’s edition of Valley Reporter, written by a brilliant young woman of Brittany Maynard’s generation, a graduate student in disability studies at the University of New Hampshire and a person with a disability. Here is her picture. True Dignity believes the article is important for its analysis of how assisted suicide is likely to affect marginalized groups in our society and especially for the author’s personal story about how reading certain ethicists’ justifications for legal assisted suicide has interacted with her disability, with results that could easily have been tragic. This is how suicide contagion works, and it is exactly what we’ve been warning about. Our legislators appear not to care. Will they listen to this true story?
